In Canada, respecting private property is very important - even if it’s "just" a lawn or a tree.
This means:
• Do not walk across someone’s lawn to take a shortcut
• Do not pick flowers, fruit, or vegetables from another person’s yard - even if they are on the ground
• Do not "rescue" apples or other fruit lying on the grass - they still belong to the owner
• If you would like some fruit or vegetables, always ask the property owner first
• Always keep your pets on a leash and clean up after them - even in parks or on sidewalks
In nature:
• Make sure the forest or land you enter is not private property before walking there
• Smoking in forests or dry areas is dangerous and often forbidden
• Never throw cigarette butts on the ground - they can start a fire and harm the environment
• Take your trash with you - leaving litter in nature is not acceptable
These rules are not only about laws - they are about respect, safety, and living well together.
